(Canis lupus)

  • Size: 2.5-3 ft tall // 60-110 lbs.
  • Diet: Carnivores, prefer large hooved animals like deer, elk, antelope and cattle
  • Seasonal Habits: Active year round and gives birth in the spring
  • Temperament: Very shy and not overly aggressive

They are the largest wild members of the dog family. They can range in color from white to tan to grey to black. They were not reintroduced into Oregon, but have migrated here as the Idaho population has expanded and are now established in Eastern Oregon. Most of their prey consists of larger hooved animals like deer and elk, but they will also eat smaller mammals and rodents if prey is scarce.
