Rocky Mountain Ridged Mussel

• Size: up to 5 in
• Diet: phytoplankton and zooplankton
• Seasonal Habits: Reproduce from late May to July
• Temperament: Not aggressive

Also called the Western Ridged Mussel. They can live for 20 - 60 years. They prefer shallow water with a constant flow and sandy or gravel bottom. They have no living relatives, but are related to fossils found in the western United States.
