Hereford Cow

Hereford Cow

(Bos taurus)

  • Size: 5 feet tall // 1200-1800 lbs
  • Diet: Herbivores, Silvies Meadow Grass hay, as well as pasture grasses, clover and wildflowers
  • Seasonal Habits: Our Hereford cows are bred in the early summer and calve in the spring.
  • Temperament: Prey animal so when they feel threatened they will have a fight or flight response

They are a British breed of beef cattle that are known for being more docile than many other breeds. They are easy to recognize by their reddish brown coats and white heads and underbellies. At Silvies Valley Ranch we use Hereford bulls to cross on our red Angus cows. We also have a small herd of purebred Herefords so we can raise our own bulls.
