- Diet: small fish but also eats amphibians, reptiles, birds, small mammals and invertebrates such as crayfish, prawns, shrimp, polychaeta worms, isopods, dragonflies and damselflies, whirligig beetles, giant water bugs, and grasshoppers
- Seasonal Habits: Migrate in winter
- Temperament: Can be aggressive
Great Egrets are tall, long-legged wading birds with long, S-curved necks and long, dagger-like bills. In flight, the long neck is tucked in and the legs extend far beyond the tip of the short tail.
