Draft Horse

(Equus caballus)

  • Size: 17+ hands (or 5.75 ft tall) //1800 lbs
  • Diet: Herbivores, Silvies Meadow Grass hay, as well as pasture grasses, clover and wildflowers
  • Seasonal Habits: Our Clydesdales work in all seasons. They provide wagon rides to guests spring through fall, and in the winter they provide sleigh rides and take guests out to help the cowboys feed some of our cows.
  • Temperament: Prey animal so when they feel threatened they will have a fight or flight response

Traditionally they have been used as pulling horses for farming and caring for livestock. They have been a part of the Silvies Valley since the homesteads first settled in the area. The Hopper family made their living raising some of the best draft horses around.
