(Lynx rufus)

  • Size: 2 ft long // 20 lbs.
  • Diet: Carnivores, mostly rabbits, but will also eat rodents, birds, insects and carrion
  • Seasonal Habits: Active year round and give birth usually between April and July
  • Temperament: Shy and not aggressive, but can attack if threatened or protecting cubs

They are the smallest wild cat in Oregon being about twice the size of a domestic house cat. Their most distinguishable traits are their stubby bobbed tails and black ears with white spots on the back. They are tan with a white underbelly and dark spots on their legs and feet. There has been a female raising her cubs in the old Craddick barn near the retreat entrance.
