  • Size: 5 feet tall // 1200-1400 lbs
  • Diet: Herbivores, Silvies Meadow Grass hay, as well as pasture grasses, clover and wildflowers
  • Seasonal Habits: Most of our cows are bred in the early summer and calve in the spring. There is a small group that is bred in late fall and calves at the end of summer.
  • Temperament: Prey animal so when they feel threatened they will have a fight or flight response

Angus cows are the most well-known breed of beef cattle originally from Scotland. They are relatively easy to handle, resistant to harsh weather, mature quickly and produce high quality, well marbled meat. At Silvies Valley Ranch our cows go back to old genetic lines that have adapted well to eat only the natural grasses, clover and wildflowers that grow in our meadows, so we never need to supplement them with any grain or alfalfa.
